8:30am - 4:00pm
Meet first at 8.30 at the Ferny Grove Aqua Park, in Upper Kedron Rd, off Samford Rd
Update 27/9/2024
Entrants:
Christopher and Kim Brincat
Michael Dwyer (in Mike Ovens' car as mine still has electrical issues - thanks Mike)
Meeting Point:
It appears that cars will be sent out in order of arrival at the Tramways Museum, starting about 9.30 AM, for a 2 hour run.
So we can go out together, we'll meet first at the Ferny Grove Aqua Park, in Upper Kedron Rd, off Samford Rd, a kilometre or so before the turn off for the Museum, the same spot as last year. There is a small parking spot and turnaround there.
The meeting time will be at 8.30 AM. Please ensure you have topped up with petrol before then.
To all SCCQ members, and non-members who have a classic car that meets the requirements below.
The 2024 Distinguished Gentleman's Drive has been confirmed for Sunday 29 Sept 2024.
If you want to participate, you will have to:
- register soon, at the DGD website: https://www.gentlemansdrive.com/
- arrange the costumes you intend to wear: https://www.gentlemansdrive.com/dapper
- pay the "entry fee" - see below.
- start getting support, through charity donations.
- and please let Michael and/or Peter know.
At this stage, the Brisbane arrangements are:
- starting point will be shown when you register. We will meet at a location close to the start, and then travel in convoy to the start. Breakfast and coffee will be available there.
- entrants can arrive any time after 8.00 AM, with the Drive setting off 9.30 AM. It will meander over the hinterland for about 100 kms, and arrive at the destination about 11:00 AM, for lunch, talks, car viewing. Apparently there may also be some prizes.
There is a separate run starting from Noosa. The Sunshine Coast Chapter may want to look at this - Tony Slattery is in it already.

There are no SCCQ names yet that I can see.

The Drive is an international event, usually held in September each year. It's only been going for a couple of years, and is held in lots of cities and countries around the world. It takes the format of a drive around a region for a couple of hours, then a lunch at the destination. It's a charity event, with entrants getting donations and sponsors from their contacts, supporting men's cancer and health charities. It had its genesis in the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride for motorcyclists.
It is in our 2024 Calender as an event for Brisbane and our 2 Chapters. We should register early to ensure we get in, with plenty of time to arrange or hire the expected clothing (flat caps can be bought from our Regalia Manager perhaps?).
There is a $50 entry "fee" but there can also be donations from sponsors. It doesn't clash with All British Day or other events.
There are some pre-conditions:
- vehicles being entered must be manufactured on or before 31/12/1979
- vehicles must be roadworthy and registered
- there is no timing or speed required, hence no MSA / CAMS permit or licences.
