Racing this year were Keith Gordon, John Morrison, Troy Mansfield, Nick Cole, Alex Robertson, Cas Michalek and Mark Michalek.
We arrived early Friday morning to set up our camps for the weekend. Boy, was it hot and humid!!
Saturday turned out to be hotter than Friday. A nice surprise saw Stuart and Chris Cutting arrive for the weekend to watch the guys race.
As usual there were a few little hiccups with some of the cars, but on the whole, they all behaved themselves, and Nick sorted a fuel problem that had been bugging him for a while, so win win win.
Saturday was so hot, a lot of caravans must have had their air con on because we lost power a couple of times, then we got an announcement over the loud speaker to please turn our air cons off – no more lost power. Saturday night a few of us went in to town for dinner at the Horse and Jockey Motel. Meals were fabulous, very tasty and generous portions. As we were finishing our meals, we got a call from Troy, a bad thunder storm had hit the Racetrack. A few marquees had blown to shreds, luckily ours were ok, but we had left the hatch and windows open in our van ☹Water everywhere, luckily it was just in the kitchen area and didn't wet the beds. So a bit of a clean up began.
Sunday shone bright and sunny again, still quite warm, but I don't think it was as bad as Saturday. Another nice surprise when Brian and Kay Bond turned up to watch the racing. Over the course of the weekend the guys got 7 runs, 4 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. They all enjoyed the racing for the weekend, but we all hope it will be a bit cooler for the next round in April.
If anyone is interested in coming to watch the racing, the dates are 13th& 14thApril at Morgan Park Race Way Warwick. It is a great venue and it is also great to see other members come and watch the events – you never know – you may get the bug to race too 😊.
