7:00am - 5:00pm
Brothers Leagues Club, Murwillumbah
Gold Coast MG Car Club Inc. Tweed on Tweed - Overview
As the name would suggest this is a two day event where up to sixty lucky 'tweed wearing' crews
have an opportunity to gather together, socialise, display their vehicles, and drive two loops of ap-
proximately two hours through the beautiful scenery of the Tweed Shire. The goal is to offer a simple
and relatively inexpensive two day event that brings together primarily MG owners, and a few invited
marques, to celebrate over 100 years of 'maintaining the breed' that is MG. The event will start with
the display of a wide range of classic MGs. It will be an opportunity for the public to see what classic
MGs are all about.
Both loops, starting and finishing at the events base, run at the same time with two groups of 30
cars. Crews alternate the runs on consecutive days. Consideration will be given to shortening the
runs for slower (older) vehicles and start them last in each group so they return around the same
times as the newer vehicles. (Runs will not be timed & no mapping or questions along the way.)
Drivers & co-drivers may swap seats. 'Prizes' will be ONLY fun awards.
The event will be conducted under the auspices of Motorsport Australia (for Insurance). Owners
from any recognised car club may enter. For participants who are not members of a Motorsport Aus-
tralia affiliated club the GCMGCC Inc. will offer 'event club membership' incorporated with the entry
form. Drivers will NOT require a Motorsport Australia licence.
The event base will be the Brothers Leagues Club, Murwillumbah, which has a huge parking area
and also cater for all meals. The entry fee will include all meals including nibbles on arrival, self-
serve tea & coffee at all times, Day 1 lunch & dinner and Day 2 breakfast & lunch. This is to keep
everyone in the one location so that the event runs efficiently and on time (hopefully). Costs will be
kept to a minimum as this is meant to be an event that is accessible for most MG owners.
The Programme:
Day 1 - Book in from mid-morning on Thursday 5th September. Cars displayed at start. Run
1 starts after lunch & returns to venue. Dinner & awards Thursday night (as some may head
off immediately after Friday's run)
Day 2 - Book in earlier on Friday 6th September for breakfast. Run 2 is followed by lunch
before heading off home.
Throughout this event we will be supporting our charity Christmas Presents for Kids in Care Ltd., and
the Brothers Leagues Club who have experienced multiple flooding events over the past few years.
Accommodation will be booked and paid for by the entrant. The GCMGCC Inc. will NOT be respon-
sible for booking accommodation. It is strongly suggested entrants book their accommodation ASAP
and mention you are with the GCMGCC's Tweed on Tweed.
Expressions of Interest are open now. It is advisable to get your interest known as there are limited
entries (60 crews). All the information required to enter will be on the GCMGCC Inc. website very soon.
